Can you stack your existing washer and dryer? Check the pair first

Match two model numbers to one approved arrangement

Collect the full washer and dryer model numbers from paperwork or safely accessible labels. Send both to the manufacturer or installer, especially when the machines were bought in different years. Do not pull equipment out just to find a label.

Samsung describes its SKK-8K as fitting most of its 27-inch front-load laundry pairs. 'Most' is a reason to confirm your pair, not to order by width alone. Its Bespoke stacking kit is a separate product. Ask for the approved kit number and confirmation that both appliances are covered, including any existing pedestal or accessory.

If compatibility cannot be established, pause the stacking proposal. Similar-looking brackets or a seller's broad compatibility claim should not replace manufacturer confirmation.

Measure the finished arrangement and its working space

Record the available height, width and depth from a safe position. Include overhead cabinets, the closet opening, baseboards and nearby doors. Have the installer calculate the finished stack height and the clearances required by both appliance instructions, rather than simply adding two catalog heights.

Whirlpool's electric-dryer guide W11710610A distinguishes stacked-closet installation from other arrangements. It calls for room to open the dryer door fully and space for installation and servicing; enclosed vented installations also have ventilation-opening requirements. Those details belong to the covered appliances. Use your models' instructions for the actual layout.

Check control reach before committing

Consider who will load the upper dryer, read its display and reach its controls and lint filter. A footprint that fits does not settle everyday usability. Show the proposed height on a room photo rather than trial-stacking the appliances.

Samsung's MultiControl accessory works with Samsung washers and dryers that have that feature. Do not assume a basic stacking kit gives an older pair shared controls, or plan around an app without checking the available functions.

Include connections and future removal in the quote

Identify whether the dryer is gas or electric and vented or ventless. Show accessible outlet, water-valve, drain and exhaust locations without moving equipment. Ask the installer whether existing connections suit the new position and which separate trade would handle any alterations.

Ask how a technician will reach connections or remove either appliance later, including whether unstacking is necessary. Agree who handles appliance movement, floor protection and any utility disconnection. Samsung's Bespoke installation guidance requires two people for the dryer lift; arrange appropriate installation personnel instead of attempting a trial lift.
