Which replacement Lazy Susan fits my corner cabinet?

Two 28-inch Lazy Susans can suit different corner cabinets. One leaves the doors on their hinges while the shelves turn behind them. Another carries the corner door around with the shelves. A photo of your cabinet halfway open can settle that first buying question.

What moves when you open the cabinet?

If the doors swing or fold out and stay there while you turn a tray, look at kidney-shaped systems designed for that arrangement. Knape & Vogt’s PKN series has shelves that rotate independently. If the corner door travels into the cabinet with the shelves, look for a door-mounted pie-cut system. The manufacturer lists both the kidney-shaped PKN28ST-W and door-mounted PPN28S-W with 28-inch shelves.

Photograph the back of the door where it meets the cabinet or tray. Tell the installer if you want to keep the existing door fronts. If the mechanism is jammed, describe how it moved before it jammed and leave it in place.

Can you replace just the cracked tray?

Find the maker and part number on a receipt, cabinet order or visible label. Ask the supplier for the replacement tray that fits the installed hardware. On Knape & Vogt’s PKN system, a keyed hub fits into the underside of each tray, and bearing pins support the shelves on a telescoping post. Matching the diameter alone leaves the hub and post connection unconfirmed.

Describe which pieces showed trouble during ordinary use. A split rim on one otherwise level tray makes a shelf-only replacement worth asking about. If both shelves lean, a mounting plate has pulled away, or the attached door rubs the frame, ask the repairer to inspect the assembly and cabinet before you buy parts.

Put the opening and the turning space on one sketch

Draw the corner from above and mark the front edges. Add measurements you can take comfortably with the hardware in place. Mark inaccessible dimensions for the installer to verify.

  • Show each side of an L-shaped opening and the narrowest clear space with the doors in their usual open position. Mark protruding hinges or a frame lip. Have the installer check how the old tray comes out and the new one goes in.
  • Sketch the post location, cabinet back and side walls. Record the tray diameter across the center between opposite curved edges if accessible. Show anything that projects into the tray’s path during a full turn.
  • Record the interior height at the post between its lower and upper mounting surfaces, if your unit has both. For example, Knape & Vogt lists a 25½- to 31½-inch post range for its two-shelf PKN kidney set. Use the drawing for the model under consideration to check your measurements.

Decide what the replacement includes

A shelf-only quote should identify the compatible tray and which working parts will stay. For a complete set, ask who will check the mounting surfaces, fit the shelves through the opening, and align any door attached to the unit. If the set changes tray spacing, give the height of your tallest pot with its lid so you can still lift it out.

Send Coast & Craft the door photo, the sketch, any part number and a short description of what catches or broke. Include the proposed product link if you've found a likely match.
